James F. Anderson was born and raised in Western Pennsylvania. After high school, he attended Gannon University where he graduated summa cum laude with degrees in History and Political Science. He was recognized for academic excellence in the field of Political Science and was an active member of Zeta Beta Tau, Phi Alpha Delta, Pi Sigma Alpha and Phi Alpha Theta.

James went on to attend the George Mason University School of Law, where he focus his studies the areas of estate planning, business law, and tax law. He earned his Juris Doctorate in 2008. While at George Mason, James participated in the Legal Clinic for Assistance to Service Members and Veterans; assisting active duty service members with a variety of legal issues. He has continued to assist the Legal Clinic by acting as a supervising attorney for various clinic member since his graduation.

James has volunteered his time for the Wills for Heroes programs in Prince William and Fauquier counties, which provided free estate planning services to local police, firefighters, and other first responders, and has given presentations on various estate planning issues to different groups.

Prior to joining Arlington Law Group, James worked for over six years with Olmstead & Olmstead, P.C. in Manassas, Virginia. While there, he assisted clients with a variety of litigation issues, civil and criminal. He also handled all of the estate planning practice for the firm, participated in numerous client focused negotiations, and drafted a wide variety of documents, including contracts, promissory notes, real estate deeds, and settlement agreements.
